How we monitor community broadcasting licences

We check community broadcasters to ensure you meet the rules and the codes of practice.

When you have a community radio or TV licence, we may:

  • check progress reports you give to us
  • investigate complaints about your service
  • review what you broadcast
  • visit your station
  • meet with you

We may take action if you do not follow the rules.

When we review what you broadcast, we use the rules in the Broadcasting Services Act 1992.

The codes of practice help community TV and radio broadcasters follow the rules.

About progress reports

We may ask you to give us progress reports to show you are following the rules. We assess these reports and can investigate and take action.
