Outcome

After examining submissions, we have completed our review of the 2 GHz spectrum licence technical framework. We remade the following 2 GHz instruments:

Radiocommunications (Unacceptable Levels of Interference — 2 GHz Band) Determination 2023

Radiocommunications Advisory Guidelines (Managing Interference to Spectrum Licensed Receivers – 2 GHz Band) 2023

Radiocommunications Advisory Guidelines (Managing Interference from Spectrum Licensed Transmitters – 2 GHz Band) 2023

You can find a summary of the submissions and our responses in the outcomes paper above.

Previous consultation: The issue

As part of our work program set out in the Five-year spectrum outlook 2022–27, we have reviewed the 2 GHz spectrum licence technical framework. The attached consultation paper outlines the reasons for the proposed changes and the possible effects on other services.

While the 2 GHz instruments are not due to sunset until 31 October 2026, we are using this process to consult on remaking the instruments relevant to the 2 GHz band.
