Received an email out of the blue advising that you have won a prize or voucher? It’s probably a scam.
The ACMA is aware of an increase in scam emails that appear to be from well-known brands claiming that you may have won a prize, such as a toolset or air fryer or a gift voucher.
These scam emails often advise that the prize or voucher is only available for a limited amount of time, and require you to click or tap on a link to provide your personal details to claim it.
Never click a link that is offering a free prize or voucher. These may be scam emails impersonating well-known brands and companies designed to capture your personal information, especially your financial details.
If you are unsure if the email is a scam, contact the business directly through their publicly available phone number, email or website for more information.
Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably a scam!
